Health Camp in India at Dinbandu Hospital
Dinbandu Hospital, founded and run by our Bhaktajan, provides many services to the poor near Surat area of Gujarat. Shree Ramkabir Mandir helps in this mission by sponsoring an annual eye camp that provides cataract surgery and replacement lenses for free to the poor. Doctors, and other volunteers allow us to provide this valuable service at a very small cost to hundreds.
Annual Meal with Farm Worker
Migrant workers who come to Gujarat during the annual sugar cane harvest are very very poor. Shree Ramkabir Mandir along with local coordinators allow us provide food to the migrant workers and local poor at a very nominal cost. A food package of 90 rupees ($1.50) can help feed a family for several days.
Annual Meal for Homeless
Every year around Thanksgiving our Mandir (along with sponsors and volunteers) organizes a hot meal to be provided to the homeless that live around downtown Los Angeles. The meal usually consists of hot pasta, hot vegetable side dish, salad, rolls, fruit drinks, dessert treats and bottled water. Part of the meal can be eaten over several days, providing much needed nourishment and additional sustenance.
It is a blessing from the Lord to have the opportunity to, and be able to, serve our families, friends, community, country and the world at large. The meals we prepare and serve really provide critical relief to the most unfortunate and the destitute in our society, but the path of service itself serves the highest purpose: it helps us attain progress towards becoming aware of who we truly are – spiritual beings on a human journey!
